Still seeking to identify her killer, police have collected more clothing belonging to slain bank employee Sheema Mangar more than a month after she was robbed and killed.
A police official confirmed yesterday that investigators recently collected another of Mangar’s uniforms from her parents. They are trying to ascertain if the colour and fabric are similar to a strip of cloth that was retrieved from one of the cars that was impounded during the investigation
Police Commissioner Henry Greene had said that tests on the fabric would be done at the Police Forensic Laboratory. At the time, Kaieteur News was told that the Force had to acquire the blood-tracing chemical, luminol, from overseas.
The luminol will emit a bright blue colour in a darkened room once there is blood on the material.
Mangar, a Demerara Bank employee, was waiting for transportation near the junction of North Road and Camp Street last September when a man snatched her cell phone.
The thief then entered a silver-grey car and ran Mangar over when she stood in front of the vehicle in an attempt to retrieve the stolen item.
