I visited the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court Wednesday afternoon to interview Magistrate Judy Latchman. Behind the Sparendaam Police Station lies Pradoville 2. I went to visit it. The reception by the workers was extremely pleasing.
I shared out all the DVDs I had in my car. These had been was set aside for some of my friends. I was shown the houses being built by the President, Robert Persaud, Mr. Clement Rohee among others. The President’s home, when it is complete, will be humongous. It is the building closest to the seawall.
Has Mr. Jagdeo ever heard about global warming? His intended “mansion” lies just yards from the Plaisance seawall. I doubt any conscious citizen aware of climatic changes will want to go so near to the seawall. These are large plots of land. I was told by Adam Harris they went for $5M per acre. The claim is that this is extremely cheap for an acre of land.
I know of no advertisement in relation to that area behind the police station. Should anyone be surprised? The ruling PPP, the children and relatives of the leaders of the PPP, the party people in government and their friends have virtually brought up this country.
I was having lunch with veteran journalist, Bert Wilkinson, and he said with complete nonchalance on his face, “Freddie, the PPP is willing to give up power.”
I said to Bert; “What nonsense are you talking?” Bert’s visage took on a stronger complexion. He responded; “Freddie the PPP has bought up Guyana; it owns Guyana, so it does not mind losing power.”
What Bert meant was that if there is a new dispensation tomorrow there is nothing to share out or sell. The PPP and its friends have purchased Guyana. Bert Wilkinson has made one of the most profound analytical statements over the past four years
Show me what a new government has to offer nurses, policemen, soldiers, public servants, teachers in terms of land. Yes, the new administration will build housing schemes for these categories of workers but near to the Brazilian border, not anywhere in Greater Georgetown.
Eddie Boyer was just sold priceless real estate behind the Convention Centre. He paid $5M for an acre of land. He bought 103 acres. Show me the lands available for entrepreneurs who will want to invest if they would like to help the new rulers. Georgetown’s commercial world has been bought up by the party family.
Want to make a guess who has purchased Palm Court?
The truth of the matter is that before the next election there will be Pradoville 3 and Pradoville 4 or as I would say if you have been reading my columns, Hotel Prado 3 and Hotel Prado 4. No one can stop the little dictators from doing what they want and the elected dictators do what they want because we have a congenitally defective opposition that the little tyrants laugh at.
The signs of autocracy, oligarchy, authoritarianism and tyranny are all over Guyana and the totalitarian kings laugh at the opposition. Everyday the fascists humiliate the opposition.
Here is the latest round. The Minister of Foreign Affairs called a press conference to announce that Guyana will establish an embassy in Kuwait and that an ambassador has been identified, and with cool contempt announced that she will not name the person.
This lady was simply saying to the Guyanese people that “you don’t have the right to know.”
The Foreign Minister made this pronouncement one week after her president told a press conference that under his leadership Guyana’s agenda of rights and freedoms has been moving at a faster rate than all the other countries in this hemisphere.
Now, mind you, there can only be one of two reasons why the Foreign Minister chose not to offer the name of the ambassador.
One has to do with security. If he/she is openly presented to the people of Guyana, then security may become an issue. Of course that is nonsense. How come the same Guyana Government has identified who is the person it has endorsed to be the head of the Caribbean Development Bank? His name is Dr. Compton Bourne.
So why can’t they tell us who they want to be Guyana’s ambassador to Kuwait? The second explanation contains the real reason. The dictators are just contemptuous of the Guyanese people. And of course they see the opposition as a piece of Persian rug that they are happy to step on because it feels could good under their feet.
