Centuries from national under-19 left-hander Kwame Crosse and Carlos LaRose spearheaded Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) to 306-8 declared on Saturday before half-centuries for Everest from Manjrekar Bhola and Wayne Perriera ensured their Noble House Seafoods 2nd division Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) 2-day ended in a draw yesterday at Everest.
The home team resumed in sultry conditions on 53-0 and Bhola, who picked up four wickets in the MSC innings, added 62 for the first wicket with Rishi Hiralal (37) before he departed for 65.
The burly Perriera played some delightful shots in his 56 while Skipper Andrew Lovell chipped in with 24 towards the end of the innings as Everest were bowled out for 241.
Neil Barry Junior, son of former Guyana First-Class batsman and GCA Vice-President Neil Barry, bowled with good control to claim 2-19 on the placid track while fellow medium pacer LaRose had 2-15 in a good all-round game. Spinners Steven Sankar (2-45) and Vishal Narayan (2-28) were also among the wickets for MSC.
Half-centuries from Nicosie Barker (70) and English based Felix Walker (63) and good bowling from Barry assisted MSC in taking first innings points against the University of Guyana (UG) in their game at UG last week.
Barry (4-25) and off-spinner Daniel Gravesande (3-15) helped to dismiss UG for 106 before Barker and Walker saw MSC to 227-8 declared as Omesh Danram took 5-48 and returned to make 58 as UG reached 109-4 in their 2nd innings. Melroy Stevenson (27) supported Danram as Barry took 3-24 for MSC.
