This minibus was transporting passengers along the East Coast Demerara route yesterday, when it collided with a cow.
Eyewitnesses recalled that a man was “chasing his cows”, when one of them ran onto the public road at Success, forcing the driver of minibus, BKK 7424 to collide with the animal and come to an abrupt stop on the public road.
The left front of the vehicle was smashed in, the windscreen was shattered and one passenger who sat near to the driver suffered injuries to her left eye.
Another passenger, who was visibly shaken, said that the bus was driving “at a good pace” and suddenly a cow was seen running on the road until it collided with the front of the bus.
The passenger, and a few others, were angry at the owner of the cow. They said, “He crazy. Now he chase cow on de road? It coulda bin worse”.
When Kaieteur News arrived at the scene, the mini-bus conductor was questioning the few passengers of the bus, to ascertain that they were not injured and did not have to seek medical treatment.
The cow and its owner had already fled the seen.
