Chandradatt Gobin, the husband of the 21-year-old mother who died at the New Amsterdam Hospital one week ago, after delivering her baby, is peeved over the way the health authorities had handled the case.
He compared his late wife’s death to the recent maternal deaths and slammed the way the Health Ministry has been taking up those cases.
Investigations have been launched into those deaths …What happen to my wife? Is she not human too?” the emotional Gobin questioned.
He said that her family will at least be thankful for an explanation from the authorities on what really transpired the night of his wife’s death.
He said that although his late wife died in the care of health workers, no one is being held responsible.
The tearful Gobin explained that judging from the responses he had been receiving from nurses at the New Amsterdam Hospital; he will not receive justice for his wife’s death.
Yogitta Bisham, a mother of one, died one week ago at the New Amsterdam Hospital after delivering a healthy baby girl.
Base on reports, the woman was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital after she started hemorrhaging just after delivering her baby.
Gobin alleged that while he was witnessing the post mortem examination, the pathologist (name withheld) threw him out. He also voiced his dissatisfaction over the condition of his wife’s body when she was handed over to him for burial.
Reports are still sketchy on whether the woman died while she was being transported to the New Amsterdam Hospital or on her arrival.
The husband is still to decide how he will take care of his two children, who are still yet babies. Gobin described her as a loving and caring woman who he will find very hard to replace.
He is still recalling the night when he along with his mother took the woman to the hospital. “When we take she, she was healthy. She had no complaints. To hear that she died is unbelievable”.
Chandradatt Gobin told Kaieteur News that his wife delivered one child before and never had any complications during her pervious pregnancy.
