The 3rd round match between New Amsterdam/Canje and Central/Upper Corentyne ended in a draw after continuous rainfall resulting in each team gaining four points and a place in the final of the Banks Light Beer 3- Day Inter-zone Berbice cricket tournament.
Playing at the Cumberland ground, New Amsterdam/Canje and Central/Upper Corentyne were only allowed five hours of play while at the Albion Community Centre, Lower Corentyne crushed West Berbice by an inning and runs. New Amsterdam/Canje ended the round robin with 24 points, Central/Upper Corentyne19, Lower Corentyne 18 and West Berbice 3. At Albion, West Berbice fell for 68 with Artley Bailey top-scoring with 19 as national left arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul took 5-26 and off-spinner Narsingh Deonarine 4-22.
Lower Corentyne replied with 271 with Sewnarine Chattergoon making 55, Renwick Batson 49, Jonathan Foo 40, Delbert Hicks 34 and Deonarine 25.
With a deficit of 203, West Berbice were dismissed for 147 to lose by an inning and 56 runs although Andrew Dennis made 55 with six boundaries and Krisendat Ramoo 20. Permaul claimed 4-37 while Guyana U-15 leg-spinner Shawn Perreira took 3-46.
At Cumberland, New Amsterdam/Canje batting on a pitch with lots of moisture were dismissed for 130 with Maxie De Jonge hitting 53 with eight boundaries and Shafeek Khan 26. Off-spinner Rajiv Ivan took 5-29 and pacer Yogindra Harrinarine 3-39.
In reply Central/Upper Corentyne were 9-0 when rain washed out the rest of the game.
The 3-day final will be played at the Port Mourant ground on a date to be decided by the Berbice Cricket Board.
