Centuries from Shimron Hetmyer and Clifton Lindie and a 16-wicket match haul from Leon Andrews highlighted the rain-affected opening round of the inaugural Ricks & Sari Agro Industries Berbice Under-13 Inter-club tournament
At Albion, Rose Hall Town were dismissed for 113 in 49 overs with Matthew Latchana top scoring with 20. Dookwa took 3-13, B. Baldeo 2-20 and V. Ramoo 3-16. Albion were dismissed for 73 in 30.2 overs with D. Latchana making 17. Pacer Jamal Jackson claimed 3-7, off spinner Daniel Lewis 3-16 and Brandon Persaud 2-13.
At the Cumberland, Hetmyer smashed 188 with 32 fours and four sixes as Young Warriors made 269-2 declared in just 29.2 overs against Tucber Park. Adrian Persaud supported with 31 while Jason France was unbeaten on 22. Keirre Henry claimed 2-48 runs from 7.2 overs.
In the first innings Tucber Park was dismissed for just 34 as Kassim Khan took 3-4, Adrian Persaud 3-15 and Richard Henry 2-3.
Batting a second time with a first innings deficit of 235, Tucber Park were struggling at 36-4 when the match ended with Hetmyer returning to take 3-9.
At the Sisters, Police crushed Sisters by an innings and 233 runs. Sisters’ batting first was dismissed for just 19 with off spinner Andrews claiming 9-4 from six overs.
Police in their only innings rattled up 294 with Clinton Lindie smashing 116 with nineteen fours and six sixes. He received support from Raheal Khan 34 and Marcus Clark 39.
Bowling for Sisters, Leon Wilson took 2-50, Bennett Lamir 2-28 and L. De Cunha 2-69. Batting a second time, Sisters made 42 as only Elvis Lewis 15 offered resistance to Andrews who completed a fine match with the ball to claim 7-6 and match figures of 16-10. The tournament continues this weekend.
