A police inspector is currently being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was struck down during a hit and run accident on the East Bank of Demerara.
Reports are that the accident occurred some time around 16:00 hours. Inspector of Police, Kenrick Parris, who is stationed at Impact Base Brickdam was the unfortunate one. This newspaper was told that Parris was crossing the Houston Public Road when he was struck by the route 43 minibus which was heading toward the road.
Instead of stopping to render assistance to the lawman the minibus fled the scene.
The injured police was picked up by public spirited citizens and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Up to press time yesterday Parris was being treated at the hospital. Reports reaching this newspaper stated that the police suffered head injuries among others.
This newspaper was unable to confirm if the minibus was intercepted at any point along its journey.
