The Upper Demerara Cricket Association T/20 cricket competition continued in Linden over the weekend with two scheduled matches on Saturday, one of which was rained out at the halfway stage.
However, Ituni Warriors were able to secure a victory in the first match of the day where they defeated Royal Champion by six wickets at the Ituni ground.
In a match reduced to 16 overs because of rain, Ituni Warriors won the toss and invited Royal Champions to bat. With 33 from Mel Richmond and John DeAgrella respectively, Royal Champions reached a healthy score of 148 for 7 in 16 overs.
Bowling for Ituni Warriors, Andel Abel was the main bowler with 3 for 38 from 4 overs.
Ituni Warriors replied with 150 from 15 overs with Denzil Daniels top scoring with 61 which included 8 fours and 3 sixes, Richard James 23 and Toney Dydren 20. Bowling for Royal Champions Victor Persaud was the only wicket taker with 1 for 13 from 3 overs.
In game (2) two which was also reduced to 12 overs, Ituni Warriors won the toss and batted, made 107 for 5 in 12 overs before rain washed out play.
Last Sunday all games were abandoned due to rain.
Trophies for the competition have been donated by Mr. Mortimer Mingo of Linden and Trophy Stall of Bourda Market.
