Police have captured one man and is currently searching for another after the two allegedly broke into a school teacher’s home in Berbice.
According to reports, it was around 15:00hrs, yesterday when neighbours saw the two men in the woman’s home and immediately contacted her.
Kaieteur News understands that the two men were seen removing a television set, DVD among other items.
After the men left the premises the woman’s neighbours got word that the two men were hiding in an abandoned house not too far away from the teacher’s home.
They immediately rushed down to the house. This newspaper was told that the thieves, upon seeing the neighbours, bolted from the house. Residents however managed to catch one of them who they say was recently released from the New Opportunity Corps.
The television set was found in the abandoned house; however the other items have not been located.
Up to press time the police were still combing the area for the other suspect.
