Dear Editor,
I am a habitual jogger in the National Park and noticed that a lot of dedicated working persons frequent there for their morning workouts.
One morning, during this week while jogging I was approaching the north western entrance (Carifesta Ave) when I observed the regular gathering of young men congregating by the entrance. This is a regular occurrence and I paid no mind to them.
It was with great displeasure while approaching them for the second time that I overheard them commenting on a young lady’s private parts and uttering “banna I would do fuh she.”
As shocked and appalled I was at these gentlemen’s behaviour, I continued jogging until I saw the NPC’s guards and enquired from the guard who these gentlemen were and he informed me that they were recovering junkies from the Salvation Army.
He also indicated that those men normally come into the park in the mornings to exercise but not all of them do. The guard continued, saying that a few weeks ago one of the men was caught masturbating in the bushes not far from where the joggers normally pass. I was also informed that these men are in the habit of breaking into patrons’ cars as they are exercising.
The filth that runs through these gentlemen’s minds about women and young ladies while they are exercising is beyond words. It was shocking to learn that these men are recovering junkies from the Salvation Army and they are not being supervised as they exercise.
What is to prevent them from going back to their old habits while unsupervised in the National Park?
This perverted behaviour by these men needs to be addressed because this situation has the capability to escalate with these men attacking unsuspecting women.
Concerned Jogger
