The Berbice Cricket Board has added their voice to the many others who have openly condemned the omission of Guyana’s Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan from the West Indies team.
Following is the full text of the BCB’s release.
“The Berbice Cricket Board would like to express its disgust over the non selection of national captain Ramnaresh Sarwan on the West Indies Test squad to tour Sri Lanka. We watched on in silence as he was denied a retainer contract but cannot continue to do so as his non selection is a slap in the face for a cricketer who without doubt is one of the finest West Indian batsmen of his generation.
Ramnaresh Sarwan based on his record for Guyana and the West Indies as a middle order batsman should be an automatic selection on any West Indies team. The Berbice Cricket Board would like to encourage Mr. Sarwan to continue to speak with his bat and his volume of runs would once again open the door for his return to the regional side.
The Berbice Cricket Board along with its numerous fans in the Ancient County stands firmly in his corner. May God Bless him and may he continue to make his country proud.”
