The University of Guyana won first innings points over the Guyana Police Force when play in the Georgetown Cricket Association /Noble House Seafoods Second Division Two Day Cricket Tournament concluded at the University of Guyana Sports Ground over the weekend.
Police won the toss and sent UG in to bat on a moistened pitch due to early morning showers. The Cops then routed the scholars in thirty nine overs for a small total of 111 runs. Dwayne Dodson made a top score of 28 with a solitary boundary while Godfrey Thakurdin lashed 27 laced with 4 boundaries. Steven Rekheram was the next best contributor (18 with one 4).
Bowling left arm spin for the Police, L. Persaud had returns of 14-4-21-5 while right arm medium bowler, D. Gorrick ended with 6-0-23-2.
When it was the lawmen’s turn to bat, they were challenged by tight bowling from Omesh Dhanram (15-3-27-4) and Dennis Heywood (8.4-0-15-3) and were eventually bowled out for 102 giving the UG a lead of 9 runs.
In the second innings the University of Guyana were 129 for 9 declared leaving the Police needing 138 to win the match. In the end the lawmen could only muster 78-4 when the umpires called off the game.
