A black Toyota Tundra GJJ 3569 was badly damaged after being hit by a truck GLL 1625 at a junction in Eccles Industrial Estate, East Bank Demerara, around 13:30 hrs yesterday.
The driver of the sport utility vehicle (SUV) was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.
At the scene of the accident a utility pole was snapped at its root and was being held up by the heavy duty electrical wires, while the SUV ripped out a fire hydrant from the parapet, ending up on top of it.
According to the driver of the truck, he was driving on the main access road to Eccles Industrial Estate and he had the right of way. However, the driver of the tundra who was coming from the east was speeding and did not stop to check for approaching traffic causing the vehicles to collide at the junction.
