– suspect with chop wounds under guard at Linden Hospital
Police in Linden recovered the body of a man who was reportedly shot during a confrontation with a licenced firearm holder at Moblissa yesterday.
The discovery was made after the licenced firearm holder, who is currently under police guard at the Linden Hospital with multiple chops about his body, related his confrontation with the now dead man and two other persons.
Police are working on the theory that the licenced firearm holder was confronted by the three men over allegations of molestation.
During the confrontation, the licenced firearm holder was repeatedly chopped before he discharged several rounds at his attackers.
One of the men was hit below the left armpit and died instantly, while the two others managed to escape.
It is not too clear if they are injured as a result of the incident which occurred some seven miles off the main road.
Kaieteur News was told by a source at the Linden Hospital that following the incident, the licenced firearm holder managed to contact a relative who subsequently went to the scene and found him bleeding profusely from his chop wounds.
The dead man was also found lying nearby.
The licenced firearm holder was eventually rushed to the hospital where he remains a patient.
According to the source, the man provided police with information that pointed them to the body at Moblissa during questioning about his injuries.
Over the past few weeks, there have been some suspicious deaths in the linden area and its environs.
Investigators believe that the deaths may be linked to the cultivation of marijuana in the mining community.
