It’s about time this vexing situation in Annandale ends

Dear Editor,
Annandale, especially Annandale North is a place in rapid decline. I yet again repeat what the last two letters highlighted. What is quite bothersome is that the street of Ramsingh is most notorious, and it is this very street that the pickup truck, belonging to the Policing Community is mostly parked.
The junction at Market road and Ramsingh is always infested with teenaged boys, either making rude and vulgar remarks at women folk (especially directed at students from the Annandale Secondary School), drinking and impeding traffic on the whole. Also only last week, around the six o’clock hour, one neighbour, a married school dropout, as he normally does, was again playing his loud music, disturbing the peace and quietness of the early evening.
I am wondering, that since noise disturbance is illegal, why not confiscate the equipment that would allow one to indulge in such a practice? The same goes for the vehicles as well.
Since the law forbids playing music that disturb not only passengers, but also residents within the vicinity, why can’t these vehicles be stripped of these gadgets, or better yet, be impounded? I would also like to see some kind of educational work be done on these offenders and law-breakers. All of them, and I mean all, are without a sound primary education. So they obviously need help.
To me it is about time, people who obey the law, change course for a while, and take matters into their own hands. There are many sneaky things that can be resorted to. I tried a few, and it did work.
Another ill, and a major one too, is that of a specific group who stalks the street at nights and make off with items from people’s yards – clothes, footwear, bicycles, mirrors etc. from vehicles. What is really terrible is that the police from Vigilance know these culprits, and even arrested a few of them on more than one occasion. Yet it turned out to be a joke – they were back at it again. The rumours must have some semblance of truth. Somebody is getting a ‘draw back.’
Well here again, honest villagers must act to safe guard themselves. One is not so dumb so as not to be electronically minded – just be careful, stand guard for a while, and do a ‘zap-job.’ I mean if Vigilance cannot prevent crimes, how can they solve them? You would be ‘scot-free.’
I urgently implore the relevant authorities, specifically the Commissioner of Police to intervene in the Annandale crises and ask for reasons and explanations. Why in a tiny village, just about a mile away from a police station, residents have to be on the edge? Also, take note that the village has a community policing group with a vehicle and a firearm. I also suggest to the people affected, that they do whatever is necessary to safe guard themselves, for self perseveration can never be a crime.
And just think about this: I still read advertisements for the sale of pitbull ‘pups.’ What is the ruling regarding the breeding, importation and selling of these wild and dangerous dogs? I feel embittered regarding Patrick Gordon. I am still upset at the dismissal of a case, involving the fatal attack, about a year ago, on a Lusignan resident.
Imagine what this land is turning to? So again, I am urging innocent victims to rally and make provisions for themselves. It might be justice with some measure of fun if these dog owners can be subjected to some kind of disfiguring too. And if you cannot find a way to exact similar vengeance, then remember fatal snakes can be easily obtained in Guyana. All I am saying is that justice, peace and safety must prevail-whatever these take.
