They’ve made a significant contribution to motor racing in Guyana over the past 10 years and seem to have all intentions of maintaining their support for the sport here.
Team CAMS, a group of drivers with a strong lineage to Guyana will once again grace these shores on November 7 to entertain motor racing fans with their daredevil skills when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club host the final leg of the Caribbean Series at the South Dakota Circuit.
The team recently announced a strong contingent to compete at the November ‘Race of Champions’ Meeting and among them are the regular competitors such as Kem Lall, Sanjay Sewsankar, John Joesph and Kemal Rahaman, while the remainder of the team includes Mohan Rangasammy, Keeron Rodrigues, Damian Singh and Copper Rahaman, whose brothers Omar and Jap raced previously.
Rangasammy, who drives a 3rd Generation Mazda RX7 will compete in Group 4; Lall and Sewsankar both pilot 2nd Generation Mazda RX7 cars and they will be chasing glory in the Group 3 category, while Kemal Rahaman in his Honda Civic is set to campaign in the Group 4 division.
Singh, who drives an Acura Integra, is slated to do battle in the Group 2B and 3 categories, Joseph in his Honda Civic has chosen groups 2A & B as his hunting ground for top honours, while Copper Rahaman is booked for Group 2A and he pilots a Ford Escort.
The final member of the team Rodrigues will be throwing down the gauntlet on his rivals in the 2A&B categories and he too drives a Honda Civic.
The team has traditionally done well at the South Dakota Circuit and word is that they’ve already predicted that this time will be no different.
