Dear Editor,
Tragedy continues to unfold in our lives, the young, the weak and the vulnerable are left to the mercy of barbaric monsters, lives are lost, minds are scarred, bodies are broken and for reasons hard to fathom, law, society and religious bodies can still not right the wrongs.
The gruesome murder of Neesa Gopaul is but a horror story. There can be no other description that fits this child’s life. It is indeed a fact, we have beasts walking among us, masked as human, for only a beast can be so heartless, so cruel and cold to do what he did to this child, who had a life to live gifted by God, to follow her dreams to leave an indelible mark in this world, but her strides were brutally interrupted and the unholy acts perpetrated on her young defenseless body, turned her world into a dark place where there was no safe place to hide, no one listened to her cries, and no hands reached out to take hers and rid the beast from her life.
For Neesa Gopaul, there were no angels.
She was left alone in the wicked world. It’s really hard to believe, a heinous crime of this nature can happen to a child living in civil society.
The unprofessionalism of the law enforcement, the lack of care and concern by the Human and Social Service personnel and teachers of her school, relatives and society are all guilty of this child’s death. How many more have to go?
How many cases will not be investigated thoroughly, to gather enough evidence, to lock these criminals away?
The Sheema Mangar case is still waiting on results from the lab on evidence gathered to charge someone for her horrific death.
How many found guilty will not be given the harsh sentences the crime deserves?
Will this crime, this violence against women and children become part of our culture?
Our children, the future generation is in danger and we do need earthly angels in our lives from the police, the social workers, the teachers, church and society to banish the stalking beast who walk among us.
