The newly elected Executive Body of the Upper Demerara Cricket Association has organized its first ever T/20 Round Robin Cricket Competition in Linden, Region 10, which started last Sunday.
Trophies for the competition are donated by Mr. Mortimer Mingo, Chairman of R.D.C. Region 10, and Trophy Stall of Bourda Market.
Action continues on Sunday with Christianburg taking on Mackenzie Sports Club at Christianburg ground. Bayroc vs. Genesis at Bayroc ground, Bosai vs. Young Stars at Christianburg, West Watooka vs. Coomaka United at West Watooka. The Young Achievers vs. Muritaro at Maria Elizabeth ground at 9:30 a.m. and The Royal Champions vs. Muritaro at Maria Elizabeth ground at 1:30 p.m.
In results of matches played last Sunday at Maria Elizabeth Ground, Coomaka United defeated Royal Champions by 8 wickets. Batting first Royal Champions were all out for 73 in 13 overs with Davon Tyson scoring 18 and Mell Richmond 17. Bowling for Coomaka United, Andy Fiedtkou took 4-22 from 4 overs, Adrian Edmondson 2-10 and Linden Daw 2 20 from 4 overs. In reply Coomaka United made 78 for 2 in 9-3 overs for a comfortable victory. Michael Fredricks was the only wicket taker for Royal Champions with 1-21-3. Bayroc defeated Mackenzie Sports Club at Bayroc ground, and Christianburg defeated Genesis at Christianburg ground in other games.
