Beverage giant Banks DIH offered support to the second Annual Inter-Corporation Dominoes tournament slated for October 29 and 30 at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
President of the Next Level Dominoes Club and Tournament organizer Lyall Gittens disclosed that close to 36 teams are expected to participate in the two-day tournament. Banks DIH Communications Manager Troy Peters presented the Championship Trophy at a simple ceremony held Monday at Guinness Bar. Peters said that the Inter-Corporation tournament was very well received last year bringing together a high level of competition.
He offered good wishes to the organizers and pledged his company’s continued support in the future. Gittens thanked Banks for playing a significant role in the event once again.
Among teams already signaled their interest in participating are Western Union, Ansa McAl, Banks DIH, NIS Sterling Products, NCN, Republic Bank Ltd, Bank of Guyana, GT&T, Guyana Prisons, Guyana Fire Service, American Embassy, Caricom Secretariat, DeSinco Trading, Digicel, Neal and Massy, GNIC and NALICO.
Gittens disclosed that players must be employed by the companies they represent. The winning team will cart off a first prize of $80,000 and a Trophy, the runner up will take home $50,000 and a Trophy, third place will cart off $30,000 and a Trophy while fourth place will receive $10,000 and a Trophy.
There will also be incentive prizes for the Most Valuable player, first double love and the first love in the finals.
Registration fee is $9,000 and registration could be done at the Guinness Bar on Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge or contact with Gittens at 629-8128.
The deadline for registration is October 22.
According to Gittens, the $3,000 from each team’s registration will be donated to one of three charitable homes while $2,000 will go towards bar refreshments for the teams.
