After day three of the Commonwealth Games Fullbore shooting competition, team Guyana are still in the hunt for medals with two more ranges to go.
Guyana held onto the 12th position in a closely fought race as Trinidad and Tobago also held onto 14th. Canada, Scotland and Wales are the top three in the race.
In the individual competition Ransford Goodluck is 5 points off the lead and Mahendra Persaud 9 off. Today will be the real test at 900 Yards as the shooters will look to maintain striking distance for a final go at the 1000 Yards range tomorrow. Both men are know to be very strong at the long range having shown their ability at home and abroad over the years.
Goodluck shot 49 points with 4 V-bulls at 600yards yesterday to have an overall score of 146-14, while Persaud shot 48 with 6 for 146-11 overall.
Guyana hold the 12th position with 292-25. Trinidad and Tobago remained 14th. Norris Gomez shot 45-2 and Justin Lall 48-3 at the 600 yards range as T&T ended the day on 285-20.
Canada lead with 299-31, Scotland second with 299-27, Wales leapfrogged South Africa in the standings from the second day with 297-34.
The other placings see; New Zealand 297-31, South Africa 297-30, Australia 296-37, Malaysia 296-35, England 296-27, Jersey 295-33, Northern Ireland 295-25 and Guemsey 292-25. A total 21 teams are taking part in this competition.
The shooters battle over 900yards today and 1000pards tomorrow as the Guyanese marksmen seek to secure both team and individual medals.
