The Berbice Cricket Board has named a strong 13 member strong A team to take on Essequibo tomorrow at the Cumberland Ground in Canje. The two teams would clash for the Roy Fredericks/Ivan Madray Memorial Trophy.
The Team will be led by Eugene La Fleur and coached by Winston Smiths.
Full team comes from Farouk Hussain, Eon Hooper, Artley Bailey, Harrinarine Chattergoon, Ranga Lachigadoo Latchana, Seon Hetmyer, Eugene La Fleur, Jason Sinclair, Dominic Rickie, Steven Latcha, Yogindra Harrinarine, Troy Mathieson and Keyron Fraser. Manager is Berbice Cricket Board Assistant Treasurer Mr. Romesh Munna.
The Board’s Special Events Committee Chairman Hilbert Foster notes that they were pushing ahead with the ‘A’ team programme to expose as much players as possible to a high standard of play so that they can be ready if called upon for the senior side.
The ‘A’ team recently completed a two match series against Demerara and would also play a return match against Essequibo in that County.
The Board, Foster stated would also honour the late Ivan Madray and Roy Fredericks under its Tribute to Heroes Programme by naming the trophy in their memory. Both Madray and Fredericks are former West Indies Test cricketers and are legends of the Ancient County.
The match bowls off at 09.30 hours, umpires are Clement Brusche and Mahendra Singh.
