Dear Editor,
What kind of publicity stunt the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is playing with the citizens of Guyana? They issued wanted bulletins for some ‘famous businessmen’ in connection with the recent slayings of some other ‘businessmen’.
These wanted ‘businessmen’ have known addresses and businesses, why didn’t the police just invite them at the CID for questioning instead of issuing these wanted bulletins?
I understand that wanted bulletins are issued when you cannot locate the individuals for questioning.
It appears that the police are following the instructions from political forces to show the population that they are cracking down on crime.
All these ‘businessmen’ will be released from custody without any charges and the show will go on.
For how long the Guyanese people will be fooled with these antics of the GPF and the Government?
On many occasions Freddie Kissoon and this writer have called for the resignation of the Commissioner of Police and the DPP, but our calls are falling on deaf ears.
I had lodged a complaint against the DPP with the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) for religious discrimination since June 2010 but to date I have not got any results about my complaint.
It is clear institutions such as the ERC, the Ombudsman, the Police Complaints Authority, Child Protection Agency and the Bar Association among others are not functioning and citizens, who are not getting justice, can only complain to the President.
The poor and downtrodden have no voice in Guyana.
