Opening batsman Mohanchand Persaud hit a brilliant 131 to lead Nandy Park to 20-run win over Peter Hall last Sunday at the Diamond Community Centre ground where action continued in the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA) twenty20 cricket competition.
The right-handed Persaud struck ten sixes and eleven fours as his team piled up a challenging 202-8 from the allotment of 20 overs, while Peters Hall, in reply, were dismissed for 182 in the final over.
Persaud, who survived a chance on 86, batted with authority on a responsive pitch, while he got support from Fenton Williams with 20 and Mark Rhobe with 15.
Skipper and off-spinner Navishpaul Puran grabbed three wickets for 27 runs from his allotted four overs, while Travis George supported with 2-36.
When Peters Hall batted, Puran returned with the bat to score 28. Yusuf Mohamed and Shazim Mohamed were also among the runs with 28 and 22 respectively.
Right-arm medium pacer Sunil Ramjethan bagged 4-22 off his four overs, while there were two wickets apiece for Rohan Sarjoo and Chandrika Persaud.
Earlier at the same venue, Uprising got the better of Laluni by five wickets with six overs to spare.
Laluni batted first and scored 119 all out in 18 overs, while Uprising, in reply, safely reached 122-5. David Francis top scored for the losers with 27 as Mervin Chattergoon took 2-9 off four economical overs.
When Uprising chased the target, Roopnarine Ramsundar led the way with attractive 51 decorated with seven fours and three sixes. Mohamed Baksh was there when victory was achieved on 31, while Jermaine McNeil chipped in with 25. Francis returned with the ball to claim 2-18 off four overs.
The competition is set to resume today.
