The nation’s top junior chess players are scheduled to be in action when the Guyana Chess Federation stages the National Junior Chess Championship at the Olympic House on High Street, Kingston this Saturday October 9 starting at 10:00hrs.
Judging from the standard of play witnessed at the last tournament, National Junior Champion Cecil Cox will be hard pressed to retain those honours. He would have to get past the likes of Sham Khan, Suhai Feng, Rashad Hussain, Carlos Petterson, Ryan McKay and the Motilall’s brother Ron and Raan if he is to come out of the tournament triumphantly.
Players would compete in a single round robin format with a time control of 1 hour 30 minutes per game. The tournament is sponsored by Sasha Cells.
