29 races slated for the day
The 8th annual Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club organised Track Cycle Meet is set and ready for the Everest Cricket Ground on Sunday.
Guyana’s leading cyclists in all the various categories will take a break from their continuous battles on the road and at the Inner Circuit of the National Park, switch cycles and recommence competition on the Grass Track at the Everest Ground. Competition time is set for 12:30hrs with a total of 29 races slated for the day.
With the likes of Alonzo Greaves, Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams, Geron Williams and Warren McKay not in the mix, the other riders will have the chance to stamp their authority.
Winner of last year’s feature 30-lap contest Walter Grant-Stuart is in fine form and will be aiming for a repeat.
The Differently Able Grant-Stuart has been upstaging his rivals and is eager to show that last year’s feat was no fluke.
Robin Persaud, Eric Sankar, Jude Bentley, Kennard Lovell, Linden Blackman, Enzo Matthews, Kurt La Rose, Paul De Nobrega, Kirkwood Kendall, Aubrey Springer, Walter Isaacs, Linden Blackman, Tony Simon, Chris Persaud, Junior Niles will all be in contention in the senior and veteran races.
Among the names competing in the BMX races are Anthonio Samaroo, Ethen Conway, Christopher Griffith, Deeraj Gajbarran, Jaleel Jackson, Darius Ramsammy and Devanand Bissoon among others.

12 to 14 yrs Boys & Girls Open, Category 1 & 2, Juniors, Category 3 & 4, Juveniles, Veteran Under and Over 50 years, Upright Cyclists, BMX Boys Open, BMX Boys 12 to 14 years, BMX Boys 9 to 12 years, BMX Boys 6 to 9 years and BMX Girls 6 to 12 years.
