Mohan Moniram, of Hampton Court, and Bharrat Persaud, of Windsor Castle, Essequibo Coast, two drivers, will remain in police custody to assist with further investigations into two separate road accidents over the weekend.
The first accident which involved Moniram, police said was fatal. The victim was his older brother, Ajadia Moniram, a\k Boya or Buggie, 53. Another victim, Judo Brummell of Hampton Court, has been hospitalised.
Brummell who was sitting in the passenger seat of pick up GMM 6760, sustained injuries to his right eye, left leg, his chin and chest. Because of the severity of his injuries he had to be rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital having been referred from the Suddie Public Hospital.
According to the police, Mohan Moniram was piloting GMM 6760 south along the Exmouth Public Road on Saturday around 2am, when the left rear wheel of the vehicle blew out. The vehicle toppled and Ajadia pitched out of the back of the tray and landed in a nearby trench. The vehicle pinned him.
He had to be assisted by neighbours and relatives before he was rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital where he remained a patient in the accident and emergency unit, before he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, in the other accident which also occurred on Saturday last, around 18:45hrs on the Windsor Castle Public Road, police said that motor lorry GMM 6177, driven by Bharrat Persaud of Hampton Court, was proceeding north on the thoroughfare, when it struck pedal cyclist, Mohan Lall, 50, of Windsor Castle. At the time Lall was proceeding in the opposite direction.
