Dear Editor,
On numerous occasions, government officials, especially those at the Ministry of Home Affairs condemn any criticism of the security forces as unhelpful and harbouring devious intentions.
Well that is for the public to decide. I cannot let the latest display of incompetence pass without a comment, since it gives us an insight into the capability of our police force. Imagine after years of experience in hosting GUYEXPO the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is unable to organise an orderly flow of traffic. Confusion abounds, congestion, downright lawlessness and we look helplessly at the chaos every single night. This is the case with an event that we plan for months and years in advance and it turns out to be a disaster.
The GPF has not displayed the level of competence, which will give citizens the confidence, that the GPF is in a position to serve much less to protect them.
