Lall, of Annandale, and Narine were both on bicycles at the time of the accident with the latter being the most critical. However, reports are that all of the victims are in stable condition.
This newspaper understands that the collision occurred when the pick-up, which was proceeding east along the main East Coast Demerara highway, swerved into the path of the minibus which was coming in the opposite direction.
The impact caused the minibus to veer out of control, hitting the parked car and then crashing into the two pedal cyclists.
Fortunately more damage was avoided when the minibus came to a halt mere inches from some expensive vehicles that are being advertised for sale.
Gavin Adams, the driver of the minibus, accused the driver of the pick-up of causing the accident.
“I coming down the road, heading to town and the man mek a u-turn and knock de bus. After he knock de bus, I try fuh hold de bus from turning over,” Adams recalled.
Several passengers of the minibus supported Adams’s side of the story, despite a different version from the driver of the pick-up.
The pick-up driver said that all he felt was the impact of the bus slamming into his vehicle.
