Dear Editor,
The self-made, self-proclaimed, self-confessed political analysts are emerging and bolding declaring their theories many of which lack any evidence of research or basic truth.
The propagandists have hit the brakes pedal, overdrive mode appears to be the order of the day. Political infiltration and designated paymasters have been organised to penetrate other’s agenda. Smear, libel, and slander have taken its prime role in the order of things.
Brain washing, “political hop-scotching”, election campaign works, and projects are being injected here and there, so roads, sluices, and bridges are commissioned now, in areas that were left out in the cold for more than a decade.
Yes, the PPP/C and their cohorts have intensified their campaign to attempt to “brain wash” Guyanese, so after they maligned us, criminalize us they now demand of us to forget such, but no one will be fooled. We understand that Cabinet outreach is nothing but a front to attempt to sell the PPP/C communist message and to advance their communistic policy of “suppressing the masses, so as to control them”.
Yes, many more maiden visits will be made, promises will be made, and goods and services will be provided as though these are gifts of the President and the PPP/C. The intention will be to negate the fact that this is their responsibility, trying to deceive us into believing that it is not our, the taxpayers‘, money.
The PPP/C believe that we are so naïve, or “dotish” that they can sponsor a “fete” or “bubble session” for us in exchange for our votes, it’s a position that speaks to the level at which they perceive us. Yes, they believe that ordinary, decent, and intelligent Guyanese are docile and cheap. A young taxi driver informed me that on Sunday October 3, 2010 patrons to the GuyExpo exhibition are advised to wear back and red, since that day is a big promotion of a new beer and that the colour of that brand of beer is black and red. In the same breath he said to me, “these people think we stupid, they ain’t understand that we know that black and red are the major PPP colours”. So the black and red affair, according to the man on the street is intended to have us decked out in the PPP colours so that they will make a campaign advertisement of us, according to the young man, the video cameras will be “cocked- high”.
But again, the people are conscious of all the “works in progress” and what is to come, we will therefore, not be fooled. Speaking about GuyExpo, this exhibition, should have been held a few weeks earlier, but is now scheduled to last until October 5th, after commencing on September 30th. They tell us of some frivolous excuse as to why it could not have been held earlier, but this excuse was rebuffed, since we understand that the October 5th date is the date the PPP/C brand as “their return to dem muck ra cy” day. This thinking is that Guyanese will spend these six days to “deck up”, “spend up” and “drink up” into October 5th, and taking the line of the young taxi driver, the cameras will be cocked high. What a psychological stunt, but the people will not be fooled, let them continue to dismiss our intelligence, and alertness. “GuyExpo ends on October 5th” is a designed trap.
I have always argued that the actions of some people are so consistent with their ideology that you can almost pre-empt their every move, so young people will not be fooled.
What is sad is that while the Government and their friends are playing this devious game, crime continues to grip every community, only recently, I learnt that, some 20 bullets were pumped into a man’s stomach, a few weeks ago some five persons died when gun men riddled them with bullets, and during those same few weeks a young bank worker, Sheema Mangar, was murdered in a most barbaric manner, when criminals run her over after snatching her cell phone.
Talking about cell phone, how can we forget the lawlessness and mayhem that consumes our everyday life, when common cell phone is now a big target for criminals, and petty thieves? While these people play politics with our lives the unemployed are getting more frustrated and desperate. The qualified, unqualified, skilled and unskilled are all in the same predicament when it comes to employment. The more the Government refuses to recognise the nexus between heightened criminal activities, and joblessness the more entrenched the criminal enterprise will become.
How can we forget the past, when we are consistently marginalised, and discriminated against, how can we forget our dire situation when the tender board process is stacked against those of us whom they “power bosses” stereo-type.
No amount of political propaganda, and campaign overtures will be sufficient to brainwash us into believing that these people now care, when the wounds, scars and fears of a people; discriminated against; shaken by criminal attacks; gripped by hopelessness; deprived of an opportunity to fend for self; among other ills, consume us.
As the “silly season” intensifies let us resolve to stay focus, and examine the actions and messages of the infiltrators, detractors, and propagandists.
Let us not be fooled!
