West Indies selector Clyde Butts grabbed 5-23 and Elton Baker missed a century by 8 runs to spearhead GNIC to an emphatic innings and 37-run victory in their first round Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) two-day first division cricket match which ended yesterday at the GDF ground.
The 53-year-old Butts, a former West Indies off-spinner got support from Ronale Bourne who took 2-30 as MSC were bundled out for 75 in 33 overs in their first innings last week.
Led by Baker’s 92, Shawn DeSouza’s 40 and 28 from Quency Ovid-Richardson, GNIC declared their first innings closed at 241-9 as former National under-19 pacer Seon Daniels bowled impressively to take 5-69 and out of favour national all-rounder Deon Ferrier supported with 3-43 with his off-spin.
Guyana youth left-hander Kwame Crosse scored 42 and Danny Narayan 30 as MSC fell for 129 in their 2nd innings as Butts took 3-27 and his son Collis had 4-30.
