Dear Editor,
On September 19, 2010 I went into the National Park to attend the International Day of Peace Rally, organised and sponsored by the Guyana Justice of the Peace Association.
This event was indeed well organized, if not well attended.
The Dancers from the Indian Cultural Centre, ACDA and the Amerindian Community were all inspirational and entertaining. The bringing together of dancers from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds only demonstrates that Guyanese regardless of our differences can come together to have fun and celebrate.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Bishop Francis Alleyene, Dr. Michael Scott and Pandit Chrishna Persaud all brought messages of Peace.
The release of the pigeons – I was really moved by this item. I am certain that come next year the Justice of the Peace Association and Pandit Chrishna Persaud will see wider participation in the observance of International Day of Peace.
Keep the good work up.
Eshwar Shakti Persaud
