The Second annual Poonai’s Pharmacy sponsored Under-13 Inter Zone tournament organised by the Berbice cricket Board is set to bowl off on Sunday with two matches.
Lower Corentyne meet Central/Upper Corentyne at the Area ‘H’ Ground in Rose Hall Town while at the Blairmont Community Centre Ground, West Berbice come up against New Amsterdam/Canje. The tournament forms part of the BCB’s development plan.
The Junior Selection Committee under the chairmanship of Leslie Solomon would be present at all matches with the view of selecting an Elite squad of 20 players for future coaching sessions. Players born on or after September 1, 1996 are allowed to play.
Matches would be played on a one-day two innings basis with teams limited to 60 overs in their first innings. Leading West Berbice is Grisean Grant, Shimron Hetmyer will be at the helm for New Amsterdam/Canje, Jameel Jackman carries the charge for Central/Upper Corentyne while Daniel Lewis Captains Lower Corentyne.
Central/Upper Corentyne: Jameel Jackman, Alvin George, Vedanand Sugrim, (Vice captain) Shaquille Francois, Lakeram Ragnauth, Dineshwar Budhoo, Deon Esau, Chavin Arnachalam, Kelford Ryne, Mohamed Deochand, Talib Park, Ravin Singh, Mohamed Razack, Stephen Mangra, Rabindranauth Roopchand and Chavah Arnachalam.
Lower Corentyne: Brandon Persaud, Narendra Permaul, Veramootoo Seawasane, Javid Seecharran, Balchan Baldeo, Devendra Latchamn, Daniel Lewis, Jason Anderson, Tyrone Pooranauth, Matthew Latchana, Parmanand Sahadeo, Kevin Gopsaul, Joshua Harrichan and Karran Singh.
West Berbice: Parmanand Ramohan, Royston Wade, Grisean Grant, Osbert Cain, Akeem Miller, Titus Webster, Andrew Nestor, (Vice captain), Charlston Nicholson, Matthew Doris, Keader Braithwaithe, Mervin Mc Curdy, Winston Joseph and Carlos Peterkin.
New Amsterdam/Canje: Shimron Hetmyer, Kierre Henry (Vice captain), Adrian Persaud, Rasheed Khan, Shazim Gaffar, Devon Ali, Kevin Sinclair, Jason France, Clifton Lindie, Kassim Khan, Junior Jaundoo, Richard Henry, Jamal Butts and Nishane Noble.
