The Berbice Cricket Board has made two changes to its ‘A’ team for the 2nd match in the Inter County series against Demerara which is set for today at the Albion Community Centre Ground.
Berbice last Friday defeated Demerara by two wickets in the first game to clinch the Colin Wiltshire Memorial trophy while at stake in today’s match is the Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Trophy.
National Twenty20 players Jonathan Foo and Richard Ramdeen have been drafted into the team which would once again be led by Eugene La Fleur.
Under-19 players Loyden Lewis and Shawn Perreira have been released from the team so that their attendance at school would not be affected.
The full squad: Eugene La Fleur (captain), Harrinarine Chattergoon, Ranga Lachigadoo Latchana, Jonathan Foo, Richard Ramdeen, Dominic Rickie, Seon Hetmyer, Anthony Bramble, Steve Latcha, Krisendat Ramoo, Eon Hooper, Troy Mathieson, Keyron Fraser and Keon Joseph. The Manager/Coach for the team is Winston Smith.
PRO of the Berbice Cricket Board, Hilbert Foster stated that the Berbice ‘A’ team is a developmental one with the aim of harnessing talented players for the future and as such while players like Veerasammy Permaul and Brendon Bess are Under-23 they are also established national players and were therefore not considered.
The ‘A’ team Foster noted would also serve as a nursery for the County’s senior team and is aimed at keeping the players active.
The late Leslie Amsterdam was a former national opening batsman and served as President of the Berbice Cricket Board for over a decade.
