Under the theme “Expanding Investments in a Sustainable Environment” the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce will commence its largest trade and investment exposition “GuyExpo 2010” which will be held from September 30 to October 5, next.
The six-day exposition and trade fair offers business associates the opportunity to meet, network, and negotiate with international companies as well as showcase their skills, talents, and creative work.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Guyana holds enormous potential for investors. And GuyExpo will attract both local and overseas participants displaying a wide range of products, crafts and services.
The Ministry disclosed that GuyExpo is also designed to promote the growth and development of small businesses.
Events such as GuyExpo help to promote Guyana as an emerging and attractive investment destination.
The trade fair, which is a collaborative endeavour between the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), the Ministry of Tourism Industry and Commerce, and the Private Sector, is lauded as the longest sustained exhibition in the Caribbean.
The Ministry further revealed that with increasing international and regional interest over the years, overseas participants are expected from Suriname, Brazil and Mexico, among other countries. This will allow local businesses the opportunities to connect with international companies and establishments.
There will be an investors’ seminar at the Guyana International Conference Centre to focus on “How to do business in Guyana”.
This ideal setting provides the opportunity for businesses to increase their competitiveness and efficiency, and foster growth.
GuyExpo began ten years ago in 1995 as a biennial activity by the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-INVEST), the Guyana Manufacturers’ Association (GMA) and the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce. It became an annual event in 2004 and is the longest sustained exhibition in the Caribbean region.
This event showcases locally produced goods and services.
