The policeman who lost his weapon which was subsequently recovered buried in a yard on the Corentyne has been dismissed. The action was taken by the force’s administration after it was established that the Constable failed to report the loss of his weapon.
This newspaper understands that the rank’s excuse was that he was desperately hoping to recover the weapon.
However, after the gun, a 9mm, was discovered missing, an investigation was launched, which led to a suspect taking police to where he had stashed it in a garden in Mibicuri, Black Bush Polder.
The man, who is currently in police custody, claimed that he had found the weapon.
The matter has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice on how to proceed with charges against the suspect who led police to the hidden weapon.
