“Jagdesh and Bissessar crew” was crowned the winners of the Duck Curry competition at the Starlite Drive In on the East Coast Demerara, last evening. With 222 points, they walked away with the winning trophy, $60,000 in cash along with hampers and a certificate.
Second place was awarded to “Duck Soldiers” from Trinidad and Tobago, who scored 208 points and walked away with $30,000, a trophy and hampers, while the “First and last Curry Duck crew” was awarded with the Best Presentation and the Best Dressed group prize.
Guyana previously won another Duck Curry competition earlier in this year in Trinidad and Tobago, which caused the Trini’s to seek revenge.
Twenty groups participated in the “clash of curry” and three of the groups, comprising 150 persons came from the twin island republic.
Some of the groups that participated were Curry Conquerors, Green House Duck Curry Crew, Odyssey Restaurant and Roof Garden, Bibi’s (MOMO) Bar, Ibrahim Duck Curry Crew, Chillies Restaurant and Bar, and Duck Soldiers.
The contestants competed in three categories: aroma, taste, and texture.
