The Guyana national rugby team warmed up for their imposing task at the Commonwealth Games with an impressive display in Barbados recently.
The team played three matches against a Select team picked by the Barbados Rugby Union (BRU) and won all by lopsided margins.
The team left the island for England after being hosted to a dinner by the BRU on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, Avery Corbin, who along with Kevin McKenzie were the two players left behind due to visas delays eventually joined the squad in Barbados on Thursday.
According to news reaching this newspaper, McKenzie was expected to connect with the team in London yesterday afternoon where they are due to play against Loughborough College this evening at the College Campus ground.
The college began hosting the Guyana team from yesterday and they will remain there until October 1, before departing for India.
It was reported that the team had a good day of practice yesterday in England and commented that the weather was ‘not too cold’.
It was also reported that the players were all in good shape and working hard under Technical Director Joe Whipple, Team Manager Christopher ‘Kit’ Nascimento and Physical Fitness Trainer and Physio Martin Varga.
