All roads lead to the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf club and Sports facilities at Alness for the annual Champion of Champion one day Horse race meet.
With over 65 horses entered for the one day horse racing extravaganza turfites are expected to converge in their thousands today.
Eight scintillating races are carded on the day’s programme and with at least two big names entered in each of the division; horse racing fans are guaranteed a treat.
One change has been made to the programme with the F Class event upgraded to E3. Prize monies totalling over $3.5M in cash plus trophies and other giveaways are on offer during the day’s proceedings and a grand time is anticipated.
The Alness track has a reputation of being one of the quickest in the country and with the sun shining in all its glory for the past days a lot of records are expected to tumble.
The feature B class event sponsored By Banks DIH to the tune of over $800,000 has one of the best lines ups so far and picking a winner will not be an easy task.
The winner will race away with over $400,000 plus the Banks DIH Trophy over 1300M. The line up reads Miss Republic, Miss Orientate, Tropical Passion, The Message, Night Crescendo, Delmur Gold, Prince Charming, Silver Source and Star Tracer among others.
An equally anticipated battle is brewing in the co-feature 3yrs old open for horses bred in Guyana and the West Indies also over 1300M. That line up reads Gem’s Pride, Sky is the limit, Stormy Lass, Zelona, Five Star General, Peaceful, Stormy Water, Sabrina Princess and Celebration Time will all be looking to celebrate at the end of the event for the $300.000 top prize and trophy.
The E3 race which is expected to be as competitive as ever over 1300M and will see the competitors battling for a first prize of $220,000 with South Sea, Dutchman, Zelona, Fairy Landing and World Class being in the running.
The two year old event for Guyana Bred horses over 1100M with a winning purse of $180,000. Better than Gold, Water Wave, Cash Connect, Apostle, Royal Salute JD Jr, and Speed vision will be looking to blaze the trail.
Bounty Flyer, Gold Romance, Finishing Touch are among those entered for The G Class 1200M gallop for the $150,000 first prize on offer.
Another top notch battle is expected in the H 2 and lower 1200M event which has a first prize of $140.000. Amy Jane, Clear Victory, Baby Boy, Royal Touch, New World , Lyana and Miami Vice will be looking to hold a tight reign in this event.
A close battle is expected in the ‘I’ 2 Race where the animals will gallop over a distance of 1400M for the $120,000 top prize. With Diplomat, Dream Girl, Monilisa Savion, Spread the News, Sweetness, Graphic and Royal Time looking to score big.
Back Beauty, Native Princes, Nobody Knows, Channel Boy and Blessed Child headlines those entered for the K &L event for the winning purse of $90,000 over 1200M.
Trophy stall Bourda Market will present the top individual performers including champion jockey, champion trainer and the top stables with their winnings.
The races will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority and Race time is 13:00 hrs.
