Conrad Reynolds, 65, of Islington, East Bank Berbice, was struck down by a car as he was riding his cycle along the Islington public road on Friday.
According to reports, hire car number, HA 9300, had reversed to collect passengers and failed to see Reynolds. The result was that the car hit him off his cycle.
The elderly man was picked up by persons who witnessed the accident and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he remained warded. Reynolds sustained head injuries as a result of the accident.
The errant driver who was identified as Tulsidas Surgrim of West Canje, Berbice was taken into police custody to assist with investigations while his car remains impounded.
