As police continue their investigation into a stabbing death at the Puruni Landing, Mazaruni, the killer in the incident remains at large.
A source close to the investigation said that while they are looking for the suspect, they have received information that Rawle Peters who was killed was the aggressor in the incident.
According to reports, the incident stemmed from an old grievance between Peters and his attacker over a debt.
This newspaper was told that Peters’s attacker owed him some money, and every time Peters was under the influence of alcohol he would confront the man for the money.
However on this last occasion this newspaper was told that Peters attacked the suspect who reportedly acted in self-defence.
On Monday last, 23 year-old Peters of 21 North Haslington, East Coast Demerara, succumbed on the Puruni trail even as efforts were being made to transport him to the Bartica Hospital.
According to police, Peters sustained a stab wound to the left side of his chest.
