Police have detained a suspect in connection with the murder of Hand In Hand Insurance supervisor, Dexter Gaspar, some two weeks after his bound and stabbed remains were found in his North Ruimveldt home.
A police official said that the man, who has been in custody since Wednesday, is a friend of Gaspar’s, and was one of several individuals who made regular visits to the victim’s home.
Kaieteur News understands that detectives also searched the suspect’s home for a computer which is believed to have belonged to Gaspar.
Police are said to be working on the theory that the 28-year-old insurance supervisor was slain following a dispute with one of his associates. Police had suspected, at first, that Gaspar, who lived alone, was slain over a property dispute.
This had led to them detaining a male relative of the slain man. Gaspar, of Lot 2566 Kaikan Street, North Ruimveldt, was found bound and gagged and with his throat slit.
Some of his colleagues learned of his demise after they turned up at his home to find out why he had failed to go to work that day.
