Following the completion of several zone matches on Sunday September 19 last, the respective winners will continue the battle for top honours on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 October when the second round of the GTA Super Sixes cricket competition resumes at various venues countrywide.
In one of the zone finals played at the Everest Cricket Ground, Eve Leary, Long Creek SC defeated Kris International Bravados by 15 runs and established itself as the winners of that zone.
Over on the West Bank Demerara, Alliance 7 tamed Westside Pit Bulls by 4 wickets to win that zone while in Georgetown Phone Paradise defeated Vipers by 3 wickets to win the zone in their match played at the Everest Ground.
Brutal Jammers were also victorious when they played Kris International Bravados, winning by 15 runs to be declared winner of that zone while in the ECD zone, comprising teams from Ogle to Enterprise, Trophy Stall Better Hope defeated Mine Equip by 19 runs to capture the honours in that zone. All of the winning teams will join the other zone winners in the next round of matches slated for Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 October.
Meanwhile, the other zone winners are, Essequibo South Zone – Lima United SC; North Zone – Aurora Knight Riders; Pomeroon – Pomeroon Oil Mills; West Coast Berbice – #2 Die Hard; Linden – Classic ‘A’ SC; Wakenaam – Heroes; Upper East Coast – Mahaica Super Stars. The players of East Berbice are yet to complete their zone.
The organisers are grateful for the corporate input of those companies that supported their efforts including GT&T, Ramotar Investments, R & M Shipping, Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Imran and Sons, GTM, Babulal Mining, PSC, Wireless Connection, GNSC, Trophy Stall and Kris International. Activities are organised by the Guyana Tapeball Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
