Two exciting matches are anticipated on Sunday when the semifinals of the Busta Champion of Champions/ Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club 20th Anniversary cricket tournament are contested.
Defending Champions Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets (RHTG&G) will meet West Berbice at the Albion Community Centre Ground with Young Warriors set to take on Port Mourant Karibee Rice at the Port Mourant Ground.
RHTG&G would be strengthened by the return of their three national players and would start as favourites against a West Berbice team that has developed well over the years.
National batsmen Assad Fudadin and Royston Crandon will lead the batting with support from Delbert Hicks, Renwick Batson, Jason Sinclair, Eon Hooper and Esuan Crandon. Medium pacers Esuan Crandon and Eon Gibson spearheads the bowling attack with support from spinners Ravi Narine, Troy Mathieson, Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Shawn Perreira and Damon Vantull.
West Berbice’ quest for a place in the final depends heavily on the talented Artley Bailey, Kwesi Mentore, Krisendat Ramoo, Keith Fraser and Steffon Adams to put runs on the board for the bowling attack to put pressure on RHTG&G.
Pacers Keon Joseph and Keyron Fraser share the new ball with back up by spinners Ramoo, Leroy Bristol, Sherwin McPherson and Kenje Sedoc lending support. Umpires for the match are Dhieranidranauth Somwaru and Mahendra Singh.
The second semifinal between Port Mourant Karibee Rice and Young Warriors promises to be a thriller as both teams are equally matched on paper.
Port Mourant Karibee Rice’s batting line up centre around national player Homchand Pooran, Moshin Perkhan, Rajendra Latcha, Devindra Takurdeen and Rajiv Ivan. The bowling would be in the capable hands of medium pacer Yogindra Harrinarine and spinners Steven Latcha, Rajendra Bolo, Shameer Khan, Rajendra Latcha, Ivan and Pooran.
Young Warriors will be at full strength with Richard Ramdeen, Gajanand Singh, Farouk Hussain, Waheid Edwards, Seon Hetmyer and the experienced Anil Beharry leading a powerful batting line-up.
National medium pacer Paul Wintz and left arm Devindra Ramoutar shares the new ball while spinners Balram Samaroo, Anil Beharry, Farouk Hussain and Kevin Ramdeen would provide support. The umpires are Roshan Moakan and Rafik Latiff.
The Busta Champion of Champions tournament is in its 7th year and is sponsored by the Guyana Beverage Company and organised by the Cricket Development Committee of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
