– Outlines principles for businesses
The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be launching its Code of Conduct on Tuesday at Duke Lodge.
This historic occasion will feature several speakers including representatives of GCCI, the Private Sector Commission and the Guyana National Bureau of Standards.
At the launching, GCCI will be asking members to be signatories to the Code of Conduct.
According to GCCI President, Mr. Komal Ramnauth, he is encouraging all members as well as the business community at large to be signatories to this document and adhere by its principles.
The Code of Conduct is a behavioral guide for business owners around Guyana. It outlines principles, values, standards, or rules of behavior that guide the decisions, procedures and systems of an organization in a way that contributes to the welfare of its key stakeholders, and respects the rights of all constituents affected by its operations.
The GCCI President also stated that the document strives to inculcate ideals of responsibility and provides a framework “to guide our members on fair and ethical practices in their businesses.”
The code symbolizes the Chamber’s commitment to conduct business in accordance with all applicable laws, policies and regulations and the highest ethical standards.
It was being developed for the past two years by the Chamber’s past and current Executive, Councillors and staff.
