Head Coach Gordon ‘Ultimate Warrior’ Braithwaite speaking with Kaieteur Sport noted that he is happy to date with what he has seen of the players while highlighting the fact that there was no Under-20 competitions in the respective Associations initially posed some challenges.
“We were able to deal with that challenge with the GFF hosting some weekend camps where we were focused on assisting the players to up their fitness levels which will be fine tuned during this week. I must say though, that some of the players have been active with their senior teams during the few competitions that are playing.”
Braithwaite explained that while winning on Sunday will be great, they are more focused on getting the team into shape for the Caribbean Football Union’s Under-20 World Cup Qualifying competition.
Guyana will be hosting Jamaica, United States Virgin Islands and Grenada in early October.
The Junior ‘Golden Jaguars’ will play the United States Virgin Islands on October 6, Grenada two days later on the 8th and Jamaica’s Junior Reggae Boyz on the 10th.
