A brace of goals by Rosignol United’s Delroy Fraser in the 10th and 47th minutes and one from the boot of Cornel Taylor in the 30th minute orchestrated Ann’s Grove’ exit from the 3rd annual Cheddi Jagan memorial football competition in Berbice and paved the way for the victors to book the last semifinal slot.
Playing on Saturday last at the Blairmont CDC Ground, Rosignol controlled the game against the visitors who were never able to settle. Fraser’s first goal was scored from close range after getting past the opponent’s defence. Taylor added the second when he slid a shot past Travis Allen in a goal mouth scrimmage. Fraser achieved his double from a well directed shot which rocketed past Allen from just inside of the 18 yards box.
The tournament will continue this Saturday when the semifinals will be contested at the same venue.
New Amsterdam United meet Pistons United while Rosignol United will oppose arch rivals Monedderlust FC. The respective winners will advance to the championship game.
