Dear Editor,
Best of luck with getting to the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC), Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF)! If Patterson and his team of Executives could not get the Linden players to play (against D.C Jammers), how do they expect to get Daren Collison?
Collison currently has a fractured finger on his right hand from playing a pickup game, GABF, good luck getting him to play for Guyana. His new NBA contract has a lot of clauses in it so if you are willing to foot the bill for his hefty insurance price tag, go right ahead.
Patterson needs to understand the administration of basketball before he talks. I can see the press having a field day with basketball when the team does not go anywhere.
Patterson once made a statement that after the D.C Jammers trip; the national team will be going overseas to compete in a regional goodwill tournament in one of the Caribbean islands. I hope that was not a bluff.
The local players are fed-up and the GABF needs to do so much more work. The GABF promised a financial report from the D.C Jammers tour and after one month, there has been no report. How are they going to attract investors and sponsors with that type of operation they are running?
D.C Jammers could not get Gordon Klaiber to play for them and they were paying for all of his expenses, do you think the GABF can get him? Quite frankly, the GABF seems broke and no team out of Guyana is going anywhere soon.
Patterson had to scuffle around to get finances (US$3300) to attend the FIBA World Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, where will the GABF find the finances to participate in the 2011 CBC Championships.
The GABF could not afford the transportation cost to shuttle the Linden players to Georgetown during the D.C Jammers Tour, but could have worked relentlessly to get sponsors for Patterson’s trip to Istanbul, Turkey.
Collison is a sophomore in the NBA and he is getting better, he will surely be named to the United States of America Basketball National team in a few years after making the NBA All-Rookie team last season. What about Rawle Marshall, Guyana could not pay him in 2007 to represent them and his agent advised against playing for Guyana.
