Sep 21, 2010 Letters
Dear Editor,
Permit me to respond to Harry Gill (“I challenge B. Beniprashad Rayman”) and Mike Persaud (“The fight to preserve the status quo of the PNC”), both appearing in Kaieteur News, 15/9/2010. Mike and Harry seem very upset with me for trying to preserve the “status quo” in the PNCR.
My response was because, Gill’s letter is rife with shoddy analysis and misguided references in Kaieteur News 11/9/2010 and it is of my desire for accuracy and to lift the conversation after reading the misleading statements and researching the evidence.
Let me publicly say hats off to Rayman, Nestor, Clarke and others who have been waging this valiant fight to preserve the rules in the PNCR and respecting the ruling of the elections.
This society can do with more respectful citizens like them.
This is what I have found in my research: 1) the election for the leader of the PNCR was contested by Winston Murray and Robert Corbin; 2) Richard Van West Charles was a contender and withdrew from the race giving his support to Winston Murray; 3) Joseph Harmon, Retd, Lt. Col., Attorney-at-Law “was selected from a panel of persons unanimously identified by the Central Executive Committee of the Party” 4) Winston Murray was a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Party; 5) After the elections Winston Murray said, “because the margin is so wide, that even if there were – as I believe there were – flaws in the process and irregularities in the procedures, it is clear that Mr. Corbin would have won” 6) Joseph Harmon, the Returning Officer of the PNCR 2009 Biennial Congress elections reported that “No objections or complaints were lodged by any of the candidates after the election.”
Having tried my best to break it down for Harry Gill and Mike Persaud, if they have a difficulty applying reasoning to cold hard facts, then they should not be writing letters to the press.
If they know the facts and still continue with their lies and propaganda then it demonstrates that they are nothing less than naked tyrants who according to Hitler’s Goebbels believe if they tell a lie often enough it will become the truth.
My intervention was never to steal their limelight, though they seem quite enraged that such intervention allowed readers to have another viewpoint and may affect their efforts at pulling wool over the eyes of people and executing their devious acts.
My summation of Van West Charles’ attitude is that ‘yunder man is lean and hungry’ and to satisfy that hunger he has put on his Turncoat, thinking the PNCR is his to do as he wants.
That he seems to be meeting up with roadblocks is probably something he never expected. So Mike Persaud, Harry Gill and Richard Van West Charles your rants do not alter the submission of Joseph Harmon, the PNCR 2009 Biennial Congress, the authority, who said “the claim of fraud is inaccurate at least from my standpoint,” and Winston Murray, the challenger, who said “it is clear that Mr. Corbin would have won”.
Sorry gentlemen, Richard did not contest the election; the candidates who contested accepted the results and did not lodge any objections or complaints with the Returning Officer.
Do not attack me for inadvertently blowing the lid on your sinister plot by doing my investigation and sharing the facts with the readership.
Attack candidate Winston Murray for saying it as it is and Joseph Harmon, for reporting it as it is.
In addition to reading these various letters to the media readers are also encouraged to form their own independent assessment by visiting, the website: http://www.guyanapnc.org/MediaCentre/PressRelease/STATEMENT %20BY %20RETURNING %20OFFICER %20ON %20PNCR %202009 %20BIENNIAL %20CONGRESS %20ELECTIONS %20By %20MR. %20JOSEPH %20HARMON.html
In case Richard forgets the PPP is in power and that is the party the PNCR and most Guyanese wants out of power. I hope that he wants that too.
His father-in-law would have asked him not to be distracted, or allow himself to be the vessel of others and to keep his eyes on the prize.
For sure Mike is an enabler and wants to retain the PPP’s criminal and discriminatory status quo and poor Harry is just as ‘bandwagoner’ basking in the limelight of seeing his letters and name in print.
Since Richard did not contest the election and Murray whom he supported accepted the results he will have to learn the art of gracefully accepting defeat.
So Richard, my dear, you have to stop throwing your tantrums and getting others to throw it with you because while Harry revels the limelight, Mike does not care about you, the PNCR or its supporters, he is making you into a mocking bird by exploiting your hurt ego to keep the focus off the PPP.
