Respective winners of the just concluded Topco Juice Chess qualifier display their prizes following the presentation.
Despite suffering two losses to Raan Motilall and Rashad Hussain earlier in the tournament, Sham Khan recuperated enough to amass 6 points and eventually capture the DDL Topco Juices Chess Tournament when activities concluded at the Keishar’s Sports Club, Hadfield Street Georgetown last Saturday evening.
Motilall occupied the second podium position while Suhai Feng sealed off the final prime spot.
These three has now qualified for the National Junior Chess Championship scheduled to begin shortly. Several other players have performed credibly and will join the three top players when they compete in the National Junior championships. They are Rashad Hussain, Ron Motilall, Carlos Petterson and Ryan McKay.
The final points standing are: Sham Khan (6 points), Raan Motilall, Suhai Feng, Rashad Hussain and Ron Motilall (5 1/2 points each), Carlos Petterson and Ryan McKay (5 points each), Saeed Ali, Faraad Baksh and Khalid Gajraj (4 1/2 points) Crystal Khan, Shane Yussuf and Daryll Calistro (4 points apiece), Kana Khan, Aslam Hussain, Sheriffa Ali and Videsh Shameer (3 points each), Adam Ramnarayan (2 1/2 points apiece), Rajendra Jetoo (2 points) and Jason Barnwell and Ganesh Persaud on one point each.
Meanwhile, Omar Shariff and Taffin Khan both ended on eight points each and shared the top spot after the tie-breaker failed to break the deadlock. The elder Khan, David scored 7 points to occupy the final podium position.
The final points standing are: Shiv Nandalall (6 points), Errol Tiwari (5), Glenford Corlette (3), while Learie Webster and Alex Joseph shared the cellar position on two points apiece.
The tournament was sponsored exclusively by DDL under the Topco Juices brand and their representative, Alexis Glasgow was on hand to present the trophies and prizes to the respective winners.
